The MGSD Gundam Aerial brings the main mobile suit from Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury into Bandai's high-end MGSD lineup.
The MGSD series combines the distinctive proportions of SD Gundam with advanced MG-style internal engineering. Despite its compact approximately 115mm height, the Gundam Aerial contains a highly detailed internal frame, multiple articulation mechanisms, layered armor, and sophisticated clear-part construction.
The finished model features the familiar white, blue, red, yellow, and gray color scheme of the Gundam Aerial, reproduced through carefully separated molded parts. Metallic silver internal components provide strong contrast against the exterior armor and help create the high-density mechanical appearance characteristic of MGSD.
One of the most impressive visual elements is the Shell Unit. The clear armor sections use a layered construction combining transparent and silver parts to create a deep mechanical appearance. The Shell Unit can also be opened, allowing the internal components to be exposed.
The kit includes dedicated parts for reproducing Permet Score Six, allowing the characteristic blue Shell Unit appearance to be recreated.
The MGSD Gundam Aerial is a high-end SD interpretation of the XVX-016 Gundam Aerial, Suletta Mercury's iconic mobile suit from Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury.
This kit represents the combination of two different design philosophies: the compact, stylized proportions of SD Gundam and the sophisticated mechanical engineering associated with Master Grade kits.
Despite its small overall size, Bandai has incorporated a surprisingly dense internal structure into the Aerial. The internal frame uses metallic silver parts and multiple molded colors to create a highly detailed mechanical foundation beneath the exterior armor.
The head features a layered camera construction using clear and silver parts. This creates a multi-layered optical appearance that gives the face significantly more depth than a conventional SD kit.
The body incorporates numerous articulation points that allow the Aerial to achieve a wide variety of poses. The front armor can move upward to prevent interference with the legs, while the multi-jointed leg structure allows the model to reproduce a natural kneeling pose despite its compact SD proportions.
The legs also feature sliding armor movement. As the knees bend, sections of the armor shift to accommodate the movement, exposing portions of the internal frame and creating a more realistic mechanical appearance.
One of the defining features of Gundam Aerial is its distinctive Shell Unit, and the MGSD version receives an especially elaborate interpretation.
The clear armor sections throughout the body incorporate an opening gimmick that allows the Shell Unit components underneath to be revealed.
The kit includes dedicated parts for reproducing Permet Score Six, allowing the Shell Unit to be changed to the characteristic blue configuration associated with Aerial's higher Permet Score state.
This layered construction gives the clear sections considerable depth and makes the Shell Unit one of the visual highlights of the finished model.
The Gundam Aerial's iconic Shield is included and is composed of its individual Gund-Bits / Bit Staves.
The Shield can be separated, allowing the individual Bit Staves to be attached to different areas of the Gundam Aerial to recreate the Bit-On Form.
For builders who want to display the Gund-Bits deployed around the mobile suit, Bandai also supports a fully expanded Bit Stave display when combined with the separately sold Weapon Display Base.
This gives the MGSD Aerial significantly more display flexibility than a conventional SD model.
The MGSD Gundam Aerial includes its primary Beam Rifle, allowing the mobile suit to be displayed in its standard combat configuration.
The kit also includes Beam Saber ×2, giving builders additional close-combat display options.
The hand parts incorporate a dedicated joint structure designed to improve weapon-holding strength. This helps the compact hands maintain a more secure grip on the included weapons.
Combines the compact SD Gundam silhouette with advanced Master Grade-style internal mechanics and articulation.
The internal frame uses metallic silver parts and multiple molded colors to create an impressive mechanical appearance.
The head uses clear and silver parts in a layered construction to reproduce a deep, mechanical camera effect.
The clear Shell Unit sections can be opened to expose the internal structure.
Dedicated parts are included to reproduce the distinctive blue Shell Unit appearance of Permet Score Six.
Multi-jointed legs and moving armor sections allow the compact Aerial to achieve surprisingly natural poses.
The combination of sliding armor and multi-joint construction allows the Aerial to reproduce a convincing kneeling position.
The Shield can be separated into its individual Bit Staves for multiple configurations.
The separated Bit Staves can be attached to the Gundam Aerial to reproduce its Bit-On Form.
Joint structures in the hands increase the holding strength of the compact hand parts.
The characteristic Gundam Aerial color scheme is reproduced through extensive molded-part color separation.
At approximately 115mm tall, the model packs a remarkable amount of mechanical detail into a small SD-scale body.
The official Bandai product listing confirms the Beam Rifle, two Beam Sabers, Shield, Permet Score Six parts, effect parts, and marking stickers.
Note: The separate Weapon Display Base required for a fully expanded Bit Stave display is not included with this kit.

The MGSD Gundam Aerial takes the distinctive Gundam Aerial design and transforms it into an exceptionally detailed high-end SD Gunpla.
Its combination of MG-style internal engineering, metallic silver frame parts, layered clear Shell Units, Permet Score Six parts, advanced articulation, Bit Stave Shield, Bit-On Form, and detailed color separation makes this far more than a simple SD interpretation.
The compact approximately 115mm size makes the kit easy to display, while the sophisticated internal mechanics give it the visual complexity normally associated with much larger Gunpla.
For fans of Suletta Mercury, Gundam Aerial, and The Witch from Mercury, the MGSD Gundam Aerial is an impressive centerpiece that demonstrates just how much mechanical detail Bandai can fit into the MGSD format.
